Removing Individual Program

I am wondering how I can go about uninstalling a single program? I have multiple programs that do the same thing within the sound & video area - but if I use Synaptic and try to remove one it appers it will remove the whole multimedia package that that program is associated with.
Is there a different method to do this properly?
Thanks for your help.

Couldn't you just ignore the fact that this program is on your system? Why remove it?
