Remote Control Server

Hi,

The company I work for currently uses the services of a company called WebEx. WebEx provides a server which you can use to remotely control another user's PC. Basically you sit at your personal computer connect to the WebEx server and have another person do the same. Through WebEx's software you can remotely control the other person's computer. Is there any server software in Linux which has this ability?

VNC is the GUI vs of that, btw it works in windows too and is free, in windows you also have TS (terminal service) in win2k and win2k3 server, with winXP you have remote assistance (a gimped vs of TS) native to those 3 OSs.

for controll of a linux server you could just use SSH and be done with it.

no need for a 3rd party web based app.

if you need to get direct controll of the other computers exsisting desktop use x11vnc, that does require the other user to get that running, but with normal VNC you could ssh into the system and get the vncserver started remote if you wish.

I don't want to access computer A from computer B. For that I can use VNC Server/Viewer.

I want to be able to access ANY computer from ANY other computer. Obvisouly I need to have the other user concent and need to have e/thing password protected.

The way it is setup now, I do the following...

I call someone and say I want to connect to their computer. I navigate to airsep.webex.com. Then I get a unique session id. I give that number to them and they connect to airsep.webex.com and input that session. They click a button to release control to me and viola, I control their PC remotely. Of course when they go to airsep.webex.com a small software program is installed on their PC.

What I basically want to do is remove the middle man (WebEx).
