Reinstall LibreOffice in Mint 17.2

A few months ago I removed LibreOffice from Mint 17.1 and installed OpenOffice. Now I want OpenOffice gone and LibreOffice back but have had no luck trying to install LO. My Mint has upgraded to 17.2 since the original switch. When I try installing LO, the installation does not complete.

HOW did you install openoffice

and how did you remove the original Libreoffice

normally to install the operating systems default office program you use your package manager " synaptic "

or the terminal
Code:
sudo apt-get update
apt search office
then from the list install it

libreoffice 5.0.2 is in the debian8 repos so it is in the mint ones

Thanks for your reply, John,
Online instructions told me to remove some things other than LibreOffice perse. Though I do not recall what that was exactly. The instructions said that these other things had to be removed for OpenOffice to work and because LO was the default office program. To install OpenOffice I copied the code lines presented and pasted them into the terminal. However, since I do not understand most of the terms offered or instructions that are not quite simplified I am rather handicapped to follow instructions correctly.

I have tried the package manager and the terminal code you have offered, and the package manager says LibreCalc is installed except that it does not open when I click on it. LibreWriter does the same. The rest of LO does not show in the package manager.

Should I just do a new install of Mint 17.2? Would that wipe out all of my meddling with LibreOffice?
