Reinstall GRUB/LiLo Kubuntu LiveCD

I installed the 64bit version of Kubuntu, knowing I would sort of fall into this*, and unlike planned grub got wiped. Downside: the live cd can't do this, and the environment I could chroot to, doesn't have a grub-install command. Upside: I have a second chroot Enviroment with grub install but didn't work. In this position I have no Internet, not even a trusted iPod with witch to manually download files. Now I have both 32bit and 64bit Kubuntu 11.10 Live CDs.
I am at Kubuntu 64bit Konsole Now.

Try downloading Rescatux iso and burning to disk. Then boot from that disk to do a a GRUB repair.

Well this is a dandy day! BIOS has stoped recognizing my hard drive! And it's a laptop, since when do laptops have hardware issues? Well any ideas on this problem?
