Im trying to install redhat9. But keep getting a failed test on shrike-i386-disc2.iso.
I got my first copy from linuxiso.org. After burning 3 CD's I downloaded another copy from a diff mirror.
Burned 2 more CD's with same problem?
you may have a hardware problem. Sometimes you get funky errors when youre over heating or you have wrong voltages set for your cpu and things. make sure the voltages are what they should be and check all yoru temps to make sure they are acceptible. i had that problem when my core voltage was too low.
Trying this now:
In VMWare, choose the VM with Redhat then:
Goto the Edit menu
Choose - Virtual Machine Settings
Click on CD-Rom
On the right side, under Connection, choose the Actual drive letter for your CD-Rom rather than Auto Detect.
This worked for me, I used the iso straight from my hdd.
When you are asked to insert disc2, go to edit on vmware tool bar / virtual machine settings / cdrom / select ISO image / browse for your shrike-i386-disc2.iso
NOTE! I did this for all 3 iso images.... was much faster than.
Ok, I got redhat9 installed in vmware, booting fine & everything.
NO internet......grrrr
So after 3 days of messing with installing it & then no internet... I was tried of vmware.
I noticed that it was kinda sluggish as well...
AMD 1800+, 512MB
I had read that 9 was memory hungry, so after a few mins...
I grabed up an old desktop & downloaded 7.3
Install went great..... both disks install fine & didnt ask for the third... np
reboot?... sure
Looking great all green "OK"
Then: Checking for New Hardware
Hangs up.... wait an hour, reboot
Hangs up
Is this a hardware problem? Do i need the third disk?
