you need to verify if the driver for this ethernet card is compiled in the default kernel installed. Check out the Red Hat hardware support database. If it is compiled as a module you can do a modprobe for the module. You said that this is a ISA card , then you also need to check if the present kernel has ISA support compiled into it. But if it has not been compiled with the default kernel installed, then you may have to rebuild the kernel.

I have just verified with kernel 2.4.18 that driver support for 3c509/3c529 (MCA)/3c579 "EtherLink III" is present. You can compile this driver into your kernel or compile it as a module. I think RH 7.2 uses 2.4.9, this should also have the driver support for your card. Please CHECK the kernel compile howto before you build the kernel, in case you have not done it before.

Someone using RH 7.2 may be able to give you more info about the drivers installed in the default kernel.

rebuild the kernel only if you are sure that the support is not buil into the kernel tha is installed.
there is plenty of documentation on the web on how to recompile the kernel. A search in this forum or in google will lead you to such documentation.
This is one such documentation.
