Angry Redhat 9.0


i just installed Redhat 9.0 and i have a few issues thati need help with
1st off ITS SLOWW AS HELL running a pII 233 MMX and win98 BLAZES with speed compared too Redhat 9.0 also has 128 meg ram
2nd i need help onfinding the kernel, a turbo compiler and info on how to coustomize the kernel to my system to make it run faster
3rd and final is that my sound card Crystal cs4610 doesnt work and cant find drivers for it
so if anyone can help me it would be great thank you for your time and w00t w00t to you all

ok, I thought I'd try and help because you got no replys so I hope this helps you some ...

1. What exactly is slow ? are we talking about something like X or just general system performance ??

2. Personally I'm a slack user, and I've always followed this guide http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=49035 when compiling new kernels, whether or not this will work as smoothly with RH I dont know :|

3. Check out http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...&module=cs46xx that should sort you out (try quick-install)

x windows and overall process of every thing = slow
also install stuff and can notfind the executables torun them such as a flash player and mpegplayer ect... where do they go

to find executables (first of all in linux executables usualy doesnt have a ending) for mplayer executable is mplayer or gmplayer to find executables do whereis mplayer
or whereis executable or u can use locate command

Command

what is the locate command and hereis command and how do i use them? also i have 128 meg memory with 256 swap
