Hello, i am a complete linux . I just intstalled Red Hat linux 9.0 on a computer i built just for linux. I also have a serial mouse for it. It's a Microsoft Mouse. The mouse doesnt work when red hat boots up, but it works during installation. can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Try logging in to the box, issue the command "mouseconfig" ( I think RH 9 has it ). Anyway, make sure you select the serial mouse instead of a PS/2 mouse or some like.
Worse comes to worse and that doesn't work, post your Section for your Mouse device, it'll be in /etc/X11/XF86Config Will look something like this:

i'm confused . When u mean box u mean computer? and what hard drive is etc/x11/xf86config on? sry, i'm a complete newbie because i just went from windows to linux(altho i still use windows).

i tried mouseconfig, and it was already set to serial. ok, i went into terminal, typed in /etc/X11/XF86Config and hit enter, but then the terminal says i do not have the right privelages to acess the file. i logged in as root. can sum1 help me?
i thought this was a forum for linux noobs. why cant any1 help? this seems to be an easy problem to fix for you experts. why cant u just tell me what i have to do?

hehe i have a serial mouse when I installed redhat 9. I remembered that my mouse is not working at all in linux box.
My serial mouse use com2 and then first i thought is was a microsoft serial mouse, but try the "generic" because i saw a article, all serial mouse go to generic section. Well go try it.
It is work for me, but i am not sure okay for u.
