Recording Mumble Chats

Hi, my name is calimer and I'm currently trying to start an internet radio show called Premium Indie Entertainment (or PIE Radio) which is located at http://PlatinumArts.Net I want to use mumble to record our shows but there doesn't seem to be a record feature built into mumble. I was thinking of using audacity but I'm not sure how I could record everyone else and myself since for them I'd have to select wave out and for me microphone, though I could switch between the two but I think that would create some bad quality. Also when trying it on Windows there was a problem of both programs using the soundcard. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. Take care and thank you for your time.

PS I did also post on the mumble forums but I'm interested in hearing all of the options I can get.

I think it depends a little on the sound card you use. I have managed to record both sides of a Skype call using just the ALSA tools, although there was a change I needed to make to the mixer settings before it would work. I think this process only works with programs that use ALSA (as opposed to OSS), and I don't know anything about this mumble thing you mentioned, so it migght not work.

Anyhow, for what it's worth, I wrote it up here.

The comment in there about Audacity not supporting ALSA is out of date - I believe the audacity which ships with Ubuntu 7.10 does not support recording from the ALSA device, so you should be able to use it.

The most important information is that you need to select both the MIX and CAPTURE channels in the mixer.
