Recommendations for landscape generation? (Making nice landscape pictures)

I remember a while back seeing some pretty nifty programs for Win32, allowing you to create fairly complex landscapes with simple commands ending with a very nice looking rendered landscape :) - any recommendations for something like this on linux?

look up a program called Blender 3D it'll have links to the landscape thing.

Blender's a great program, and whats more its lurning curve isn't that big. Check out all the tutorials you can find, and if you have specific questions head over to http://www.elysiun.com. They have a great forum there and a huge database of past questions / answers.
