Quick beginner question

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out how to run a process so it isn't attached to my terminal. I'm not sure if I am phrasing that correctly. I have a shell account on a Linux box, and I want to run a small server which I wrote and compiled on it. I can ./server when I am connected, and it works fine, but as soon as I close my terminal, the process stops. How can I make it continue running after I disconnect?

TIA,
Selbie

'nohup' would be a quick hack that can do the trick. 'man nohup' should cover the details and usage.
