I want to use vmware+kgdb for kernel trace and debug. But can't handle serial port problems. Wish i can get help from here.
One of my workmates have succeded to debug kernel by using two virtual machines. But i would like to do that between on virtual machine and my host machine. The core problem is the use of serial port. Of the three ways of setuping serial port in VMWARE, the first and the third seem to be fit for my
situation.
Using the first method, test machine uses one serial port of host machine and host machine uses its another serial port. The two serial ports are connected by a serial line. Have anyone done in this way?
Because of my current limitiation , i want to use the third method. In this method, serial port of the test machine can connect to an application on the host machine. I have configed all the thing for the test machine. But i dont't know how to config the application on my host machine. Any help is apprecated.
