Questions about window managers

I have some questions about window managers?

I would like to know if I can change the appearance of xfce. I'd like to see something besides a mouse?

Using fluxbox and backbox I couldn't find a way to set the display: screen resolution and refresh rate etc. Is there a program I need to use for this?

Thanks for advice

The screen resolution and refresh rate are controlled by the X server, the Window Manager only uses the X server. So you can change them manually editing the conf file (probably /etc/X11/xorg.conf), or using some utility. For example in SUSE you can also change them through yast or using KDE i think there is a gui somewhere.
