QT Parted problems

Hey I've having diffuclty resizing a ntfs partition.

Now I've already umounted the partition, I go in as Root user, and then I open up QTParted.

When I open QTParted I get the message -> Warning: Unable to open /UNIONFS/dev/hdc/ read-write (Read-Only Filesystem).
/Union/dev/hdc has been read-only.

I try to resize anyways, and when I press commit it simply stalls on me.

Now I used the same Knoppix 4.0 cd a few days earlier, and had no problems resizing a ntfs partition.

Any Advice???

Thanks.

Also,

I have a 40G hard drive, currently 23g are used, and I want to resize the partition to 33G.

When I click on Resize and enter the proper size then press ok.
it takes a while, but eventually the new size appears. But the color isn't yellow anymore it's red.

If this bit of information helps at all.

What is the output from running
Code:
fdisk -l
Note that's a lowercase "L". The reason I ask is because /dev/hdc usually is the CD drive, and I would assume that your Windows would most likely be on /dev/hda.

At the risk of stating something you already know

/dev/hda = primary master
/dev/hdb = primary slave
/dev/hdc = secondary master
/dev/hdd = secondary slave
