I'm using 64 bit Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with the standard Unity desktop.

In Ubuntu Tweak, which I recently downloaded, there is a tab titled "Workspace" in which dropdown lists for the various workspaces are displayed (in my case, the default 4 workspaces). The choices for each workspace window are "Show Workspaces","Show Windows", "Show Desktop", and "-".

I've tried changing these to various values, and logged out and back in again, and even restarted the computer, but I can't detect any change in behavior or appearance of the workspaces.

What is this tab supposed to do? Does it not function in Unity, or am I missing something?

Also, does anyone know where I can find any explanation of the selections in Ubuntu Tweak? I've gone to the developer site and google and can't locate anything. Some things are obvious, of course, but some (like the workspace sttings described above) are mysteries to me.
