pure-ftpd problem
I have pure-ftpd server running on my debian.A nmap scan shows the port 21 to be open.But when I try to connect to the server,this is what I get.
Code:
tinku@localhost:~$ ftp localhost
Connected to localhost.
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection
ftp>
PLZ HELP

Is this in your network or like from a workstation outside your house, cause if its not from inside your network you will need to port forward port 20-21 so as to be able to access it. If its on your home network then edit your hosts.allow file and add in the pc you are trying to ftp from unless of course you are trying to gain access from a windows box which then you will need samba to do the job. If both pc's are linux then ensure the hosts.allow match on both boxes

samba to gain access to a ftp server? OOps,you seem to be clueless.And there is no problem in getting connected,if you closely observe the output snip that I posted.

OOps you seems to be clueless, Search Web For: 421 Service not available oh wow google answered that pretty quickly didnt know google was so useful
