But im soooo sure that all of the rar's are fine, because i just last week extracted them, ive tryed atleast 10 different versions of unrar but still i get this message what the hell is wrong
You're probably using the 2.x series of RAR and trying to extract 3.x series. The 3.x compression algorithms are *not* compatible with the 2.x series...so you can extract 2.x and 3.x compressed files using rar 3.20 (or whatever the latest version is) but you can't extract a 3.x compressed file using rar 2.x.
Well are you sure you are dealing with RAR files and not just files renamed to .rar to allow publication on free web servers or something similar? Nobody RARs up mp3's, they are already compressed so I suggest you just try to rename the file (skip the .rar filename extension) and try to play it.
I could use some help too please. unrar is continually frustrating me I'm about to take a dump on it.
Code:
tyler@localhost:~/image/manga/Hajime_no_Ippo$ ls
Hajime_no_Ippo_v01-05.rar Hajime_no_Ippo_v06-10.rar
tyler@localhost:~/image/manga/Hajime_no_Ippo$ unrar e Hajime_no_Ippo_v01-05.rar
UNRAR 2.71 freeware Copyright (c) 1993-2000 Eugene Roshal
Extracting from Hajime_no_Ippo_v01-05.rar
Unknown method in Volume 5.rar
Unknown method in volume 1.rar
Unknown method in Volume 2.rar
Unknown method in Volume 3.rar
Unknown method in Volume 4.rar
No files to extract
tyler@localhost:~/image/manga/Hajime_no_Ippo$ whatis "THE FUCKING PROBLEM?"
THE FUCKING PROBLEM?: nothing appropriate.
And yes, the same thing happens with the other file. When I list the archive contents I get 5 rars inside the rar for each Volume. Can someone please provide some assistance for poor old me? I'm very frustrated about this.
I dunno about you guys but, have you tried:
>> rar x *.rar
that will extract all files from the rar'ed file(s). but if you replace *.rar with say *.r01 DONT, that will only extract the file(s) in that archive. I dont know why, but unrar never wanted to work right for me. But I am also using 3.40 beta 1.
Also try
>>rar l[b] *.rar
and see what it gives you. It should list the files in the archives.

Håkan
Håkan, I completely agree with chalewa4bambu, all things you DL, "legally" or most likely not, are going to be rared, hell, I DLed a few pictures of Agulaira(sp?) from the Maxim mag. and they were rar'ed.
I'm assuming you meant *unrar* and not *rar*, because I don't have rar installed on my machine. I ususally just put files into .tar.gz or something, I hate .rar archives (for obvious reasons).
Code:
tyler@localhost:~/image/manga/Hajime_no_Ippo$ unrar x *.rar
UNRAR 2.71 freeware Copyright (c) 1993-2000 Eugene Roshal
Extracting from Hajime_no_Ippo_v01-05.rar
No files to extract
[b]tyler@localhost:~/image/manga/Hajime_no_Ippo$ unrar l *.rar
UNRAR 2.71 freeware Copyright (c) 1993-2000 Eugene Roshal
Archive Hajime_no_Ippo_v01-05.rar
0 files
So in other words, it didn't do a thing . Maybe I should just go look for another fileserver who isn't retarded enough to archive his files in rar format.
its simple i was exploring the options tabs then i clicked on the security tab there was a line saying files excluded from extracting. i fount .exe on there i deleted where it said exe and it was fine after that
