Hi,
I have been happily using SuSE 9.1 for several months now, without many problems. I use it for work and have several samba shares mounted locally. This all worked fine until yesterday.
After applying the latest round of security updates, (Now at kernel 2.6.5-7.111.5) I can no longer write to these shares. The strange thing is that I can access the shares, and read files, create and delete folders - but I cannot
edit anything. If I try and save to a text file, the application freezes for a few seconds and then gives up. I get the following text in my error log:
Code:
smb_trans2: invalid data, disp=0, cnt=0, tot=0, ofs=0
Now, to my knowledge I made no changes to Samba (The security updates were for the kernel and a couple of other unrelated files) so why the sudden breakdown?
If its any use - the server the shares are located on is also a Linux box running some flavour of Gentoo - but I don't know the details. There were no changes to the server when this happened, so it all points to my machine
Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated
