Problems with Gnome in Mandriva 2009
Hey there everyone. I'm kinda new in what could be called Linux universe, and I have some minor problems with Gnome desktop. The thing is that when I try to access my NTFS drives from GUI nothing appears, not even an error message or something like that. I can access them from Terminal, but I would really like if I could do the same from the graphic interface, 'cause when I had the KDE desktop installed that wasn't a problem. The NTFS drives are properly mounted and i can see them in my browser, but when i click on them nothing happens while in KDE they worked just fine.

Webmin - system administration for Unix
I'm a newbie to Linux myself, but I was directed to a program called Webmin that helped me setup sharing on my system with my son's Vista PC.
Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any modern web browser, you can setup user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and much more. Webmin removes the need to manually edit Unix configuration files like /etc/passwd, and lets you manage a system from the console or remotely.
Maybe it will come in handy for you also.
