Problems installing xine


I am trying to install a library for xine in order to play dvds, but i get a compiling error when i run the ./configure command. here is what is displayed

Well, as it says: you do not seem to have a C compiler installed. That's typically "gcc". What distro are you using? Check the packages for a "C compiler" or "gcc".

I am using suse 10. I tought that was the problem and checked that C was installed. But i still get the same error.

So where is your C compiler installed? What is the output of `gcc -v` ?

I'd have to speculate on why the compiler isn't working even if it is installed - someone using suse might know.
But can't you a use pre-built package for xine? (like for everything else...)
Is it the decryption that would be missing? Could be a (small) problem in Debian - but with suse...?
