Problem when Nagios Monitoring runs ping service

I am running Debian and have recently installed Nagios software and configured it. I have managed to get the web interface up and running as well as the services and hosts installed. However, when it does its random service ping checks on my network I get the following error message:

[1061488790] Warning: Attempting to execute the command "/check_ping -H 192.168.1.1 -w 3000.0,80% -c 5000.0,100% -p 1" resulted in a return code of 127. Make sure the script or binary you are trying to execute actually exists...

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem.

TIA

tony
