Problem sharing a windows printer in Mandrake
Hi...
I have my win2k machines as part of a domain 'DOMAIN' and Mandrake 9.2 machines as part of workgroup 'WORKGROUP'...Now I want to share a printer connected to one of those win2k machines from my linux box....However, I am unable to do so...
When I browse the network using LinNeighbourhood, it shows contents of entire network only one out of every 5 times I open it.....So, my first problem is:
1. Why doesn't LinNeighbourhood show contents of entire network every single time I open it ?? Sometimes, I can see the printer 'PRINTER' under LinNeighbourhood, but I cannot mount it, and nothing happens if I double click the printer...I can, however, mount other shared directories on the same machine if I want to....
My Network connections r working properly...I can ping all machines on either windows or linux...and I can also see the linux boxes from my Windows Network Neighbourhood...
2. How do I have my shared windows printer setup in Linux....in smb.conf, should I write
workgroup=WORKGROUP?
OR
workgroup=DOMAIN ?
to use a shared windows printer ? (Note - win2k machines r on DOMAIN and Linux Machines r in a WORKGROUP)
3. I have users created on win2k machine just for sharing printers...Now do I need to create any such user on my linux box too?
If there's anything that I am missing or have missed out here, pls suggest...
Thanx..
