I am trying to install QT 3.3.2 onto vectorlinux from source files.

I do this:

./configure -system-zlib -qt-gif -system-libpng
-system-libjpeg -plugin-imgfmt-mng -thread -no-stl
-no-xinerama -no-g++-exceptions

and the configure goes ahead without errors.

I then run usr/bin/gmake as it tells you to do and all seems to go
well until this happens:

gmake[2]: Entering directory 'KDE/qt/src'
/KDE/qt/bin/qmake -spec /KDE/qt/mkspecs/linux-g++ -o Makefile qt.pro
gmake[2]: Leaving directory 'KDE/qt/src'
gmake[2]: Entering directory 'KDE/qt/src'
/KDE/qt/bin/qmake -spec /KDE/qt/mkspecs/linux-g++ -o Makefile qt.pro
gmake[2]: Leaving directory 'KDE/qt/src'
gmake[2]: Entering directory 'KDE/qt/src'
/KDE/qt/bin/qmake -spec /KDE/qt/mkspecs/linux-g++ -o Makefile qt.pro

and it goes on for ever like this if I leave it.

Can anyone suggest what's happening and what I need to do to fix it?

If anyone is interested the problem was my system date. I have a faulty battery so the date was at 1988. When set to the correct date the installation went ahead smoothly.
