Problem installing PDFlib- ./configure doesn't work
Hi,
I'm trying to install PDFlib onto my server, a VPS running CentOS4.
All goes well, I have managed to wget the library and extract it, but when I try to run the following, I get './configure: No such file or directory'.
cd PDFlib-7.0.3-Linux-php (all is OK)
./configure --prefix=$HOME/usr --without-java (fails here)
make
make install
The error message is quite clear: there is no configure executable inside the PDFlib directory. Try to do a ls before running ./configure and you will find out. The reason is explained in the readme file. Here is the relevant excerpt:

Binary Packages
===============
PDFlib, PDFlib+PDI, and PPS are available in binary form, and require
a commercial license. All of these products are available in a single
library, and can be evaluated without any restrictions without any
license. However, unless a valid license key is applied a demo stamp
will be generated across all pages.
The binary packages support C plus various other language bindings.
Instructions for using these packages can be found in doc/readme-binary.txt.
PDFlib Lite Source Packages
===========================
PDFlib Lite is available in source form, and can be used for free under
certain conditions. Source code is also available for selected language
wrappers. If you are working with a source code package you need an ANSI C
compiler. Detailed instructions for building PDFlib from source code
can be found in doc/readme-source-*.txt
Only the Lite version is free for building from source. The other packages of PDFlib version 7 provide the binary files that you don't have to compile again. Just use them.
Take a look at the documents readme-binary.txt and PDFlib-in-PHP-HowTo.pdf. They are in the PDFlib-7.0.3-Linux-php/doc directory. I cannot be of much help, since I barely know what PHP is.
