I just installed Mandrake 9.1. Now I'm trying to install the drivers from the root terminal, but when I execute the .RUN file, an error message appears: "ERROR: Unable to find the system utility '1d'; please make sure you have the package 'binutils' installed. If you do have binutils installed, then please check that '1d' is in your path." How do I fix this?
Thats 'ld', not '1d', from a console or terminal emulator do "whereis ld", if it's not there then you should install the binutils rpm from your mandrake cd.
You are doing this as root, not as a user?
Thanks, Aussie. That's what I needed to do. Now, I can't save my XFree86 file with KWrite because I don't have permission to. Do you know how to set permissions?
