problem in my harddisk mybookworld from Western Digital

Hello,
This is my first question here, and I believe it is the best place to ask such question.
I have a Western Digital (WD) Hard disk with network port. I believe Linux is the OS used for this HDD.
I have lot of files there, and I believe there is a virus. I swich it off and then swich it on. and now it is not starting. actually when I go to control panel page it gives a message "starting system now..."

Can some one help me to start this hard disk in safe mode or some how to scan the hard disk ?

Thank in advance.

the MyBooks are prone to just up and going dead. sadly i too have one that after a time just stopped turning on. not really much you can do unless you are willing to crack it open and get access to the physical drives inside the case.

you can attempt a firmware upgrade, but no clue if WD even provides one for that.

if it is still under warranty it might be worth contacting WD directly for support.
