Unhappy problem in installing GTK+


pls help me to install GTK+ toolkit on my system.I tried at gtk.org but i'm not getting.Any command necessary for installation? I have gone through installation procedure,but i'm not getting?
Which is the latest version of gtk available now?? pls tell me step by step procedure..

It's better to use your distro's package manager to install gtk and its' dependencies (glib2, pango, etc). BTW the latest version for gtk+2 is 2.10.13 and for the older gtk+ is 1.2.10.
