Hi list,


i have to use the pptp client under the tnew Suse 9.1 Distro, but nothing works.

If i want to establish the tunnel to an w2k Server i get an error

"/usr/sbin/pppd: In file /etc/ppp/options.pptp: unrecognized option 'mppe-40'"

The pptp client is 1.4.0-39.

Can anyone help??

I had the exact same problem. It seems that under the new SuSE 9.1 the ppp guts are using the newer BSD-Licensed patch for the ms settings.....

Your old options file probably had something like this in it.....
-chap
-chapms
+chapms-v2
mppe-40 # both 40-bits and 128-bits encryption bite eachother
mppe-128
mppe-stateless

You can comment all of those out and change to the newer settings....
refuse-pap
refuse-chap
refuse-mschap
require-mschap-v2
require-mppe

You can pick and choose the ones you want from this list, or use as it.
