pls recommend free data recovery tool, 16G file deleted, windows version also OK

I had ubuntu running as a virtualbox in windows xp. Virtual hard disk size is 16G,
a single vdi file. Accidentally deleted this file and so the entire virtual
machine is gone. I can recover some files from another linux machine,
so please recommend some free tools to do that. I deleted files by \rm -rf.

If I could directly recover the 16G vdi file in windows, it would be better.
Any windows based tools supporting recovering such a big file?

Many thanks.

Hi, try testdisk and photorec. Same company, different tasks.

Works for me, you need a partition the same size or larger for the recovered data to be placed on.
