Please recommend PIM

As I am growing out of Kmail and need a full-featured PIM I played around with Evolution. There are however some very annoying traits to Evolution, that I hope to resolve here, should I return. They are as follows:

1) I found no way to easily edit the 'from' field in outgoing mail. I funnel several accounts (hundreds, actually) to one client and prefer to manually edit my from field as the situation requires. I cannot setup new accounts every time I respond to an email.

2) There is no 'empty folder' button that I could find. I filter my spam into one folder, and usually prefer to delete it all in a single click (or keystroke). Having to 'select all' and then delete is redundant.

3) I did not spend too much time on this, but I did not see how to define that email from a specific POP3 account should be delivered to a specific folder. Again, this may be a rtfm but I did not spend much time on it.

4) No 'copy' in the right-click menu?!? Yes, I do know about the keyboard shortcuts, and the 'edit' menu, but this is too much. What can I do to get my 'copy' option in the right-click menu?

5) When I receive an email with pictures (attached, not to download), then I want to see them. I do not want to click on each one individually to open them. And there was no option for having the pictures viewable on the initial view of a message. Maximum, I will click one button to open them all. Can this be done?

So my question is this: Are these issues resolvable? Or, could anyone recommend to me an alternative? Thank you for sharing your experiences with these PIM clients with me.

Are you looking for a PIM app or Mail app? Anyways if it's a PIM then give Kontact a try, if Mail I reccomend Mozilla-Thunderbird :-)

I stick with Kontact/Kmail because of most of the reasons you stated above, I just find them easier to use than Evolution.

I don't especially like integrated apps, so lately I've been using favorintime as an agenda-datebook and dlume as an addressbook. Dlume links nicely to Balsa, which I like to use for e-mail.

All three of these launch very quickly and are very responsive otherwise.

I have to use Evolution for my work, but I prefer the trio above for my personal stuff. And I like to keep the two spheres separate, anyway.

Yes, I also like t keep the PIM seperate form the email. But If I'm goind to use a desktop (or laptop) PIM then it must sync with the PIM on my PocketPC. I just googled around and came up with kitchensync. I will give that a try...

And feedback on experience in syncing a windows handheld device (which I love, as much as I hate windows desktop OS's and server software) would be great.

Is there really no more KDE/GNOME-independent PIM?

What I googled out needs libraries from KDE or GNOME, which indeed both of them are not my WM choice.
