Please help me

I would just like to say that I am a complete noob to linux and want to start using it. I have downloaded the ISO from the SuSE website and burned it to a CD. My problem is that my computer [HP Pavilion a556x: 3.0g p4 (dual processors) 1gig DDR SDRAM] will not boot from the CD. I have adjusted the bios settings for boot drives to make the CD-ROM drive the primary drive but it still will not boot from the CD. Any help or options that i have not tried would be very helpful.

Do you have another bootable CD you can use to see if you can boot from? This will help determine whether the probelm is with your Drive settings or the SusE ISO you downloaded. Even a HP XP install CD, just cancel out of the install once you get to it.

No I don't. My computer was a floor model so it did not come with any installation discs or anything of the sort. The only thing i got was a Best Buy preview DVD

Are you sure you didn't just burn the ISO file itself onto the CD instead of actually burning it AS an ISO? Just copying the file to the CD won't work. You need to burn it as a image.

I used Nero 6 and it was on the ISO 9660 setting. That is the only logical option I know of.

When you open the CD in explorer or whatever, what do you see? Is it one .iso file or a bunch of other files?
