Pine Configuration

I want to use Pine to send/receive email. I'm not sure if I can use it with my ISP's SMTP server though, as that requires authentication. When I try to send an email with Pine it tells me that the send failed because it doesn't know the password for my ISP's SMTP server. Is there a way to tell Pine the password?

What is the best way to download email from my ISP's POP server? With Fetchmail, or can Pine be configured to download mail from POP servers? I want to run Fetchmail in daemon mode and have it regularly poll my ISP's POP server to check for new messages, what do I need to put in my .fetchmailrc file?

Lots of PINE info here.
PINE is great to use but terrible to configure.

EDIT: Here is what you are looking for now.
