pidgin ipv6 interferring with connection?

so, I booted up into debian testing (lenny) today, and I couldn't get my firefox nor pidgin to work (connect to the internet), as both would time out. Then, after a little searching, I got firefox to work by turning off an ipv6 option in about:config. The only thing is, I don't know how to do the same thing for pidgin aside from compiling it from scratch. Is there something I missed (gtk config option somewhere)?

Thanks

You could disable IPv6 entirely if you're not using it. Normally this is done by disabling the ipv6 module.
