This may be asking too much, but I'm wondering if there's any implementation of the Photon desktop environment (designed for QNX) for Linux? I love its look and usability, and would love to try it on Linux if all possible.
I wish! Why not just try QNX 6.2.1? It's a real nice OS and if anything would be a good learning experience... The 6.2.1 version is free for non commercial use, I suggest giving it a try...

Does it come with development tools, too? We have 6.2.1 and 6.3 at work, and I've always wanted to learn more about it.

Yes I believe it does and you can also install things from there only repository(s). Just make sure after the install to follow QNX's lead, it should show you where they are...
