photo editor/manager with lossless rotate function?

running latest xubuntu, f-spot has lossless rotate (but not shotwell) function built in. I am having difficulty learning, anyone know what other apps can be used ? (want to avoid picasa, gimp, darktable -crashes).

thanks,

all of them are "lossless" unless you resave in in a lousy format like jpg

i take it you have a bunch of jpg's that have the meta data is set so that the image is 90 deg sideways .
if so change the meta-data or use a program that does not read the meta-data on the jpg's.

i have been using GIMP for the past 11 years so...

90 and 180 Deg. rotation is always lossless
rotating to an odd angle ,say 25.5 Deg. then the values of the pixels must be interpreted

Hi

If you can use the command line, there's a utility called jpegtran that does lossless rotations, flipping and cropping of JPG. On Debian/Ubuntu it's in a package called libjpeg-progs. Try "man jpegtan" after installing that package.
