PCMCIA card problem....
I had so much trouble converting my LUCENT winmodem to
a linmodem, that many times during and since I was advised
to get an external modem.
I have a notebook, running RH7.2, so I bought the only
PCMCIA card I could get a hold of, a dandy that doubles
as a Ethernet and Modem connector.
It is called the Addtron AFM-680R and I need to know how
to get this to be recognized and working on the MODEM
side...
The Ethernet is a snap..
I didn't get any drivers for Linux with it...
Nor any instructions for the Modem part.
A search only tells me I got a good deal....
Price-wise.
So that leaves me clueless.
And I tried reading some sites, but they talk about remaking
my kernel...what's the term, recompiling or reconfiguring..always
confuses me.
I am not at the place to do that, not after 2 months in Linux.
But I am having trouble staying connected and downloading
through my dialup ISP, and the Modem is needed for this very
reason. It is my last great project, as I have made successfully
a backup of sorts on a limited Linux partition, and just need
this done to think about leaving Windows totally, which I
so want to do.
In other words, HELP is needed, in plain English.
And I thank you greatly in advance for any assistance.
