PATH Settings

I know that the PATH grows as Linux starts up from each script addding something to it. But I can not find "who" is setting the Java PATH information!! I have installed a more recent java and the path still referes to the old one.

Slackware 10.1

Slackbook doesn't address this stuff; I assume there is a general script that sets general PATH info but I have no idea what it is.

The default PATH is set in /etc/profile.

On my gentoo system, the PATH for Java is added using a script in /etc/profile.d/, which is sourced by /etc/profile.
Not sure for Slack, but perhaps you have something similar? /etc/conf.d/ maybe?

jre.sh is for [ba]sh (presumably what you are using), jre.csh is for [t]csh (the 'C' shell).
