Partition Magic Destroyed Slackware!
Late last night, I attempted something which I really regret...I installed partition magic so that I could extend to windows partition (just enough space for simcity.) What I ended up with was
(a) my fat32 partition being extended, but C: not showing any changes in size
(b) A linux partition that wouldn't even boot!
You can probably understand my frustration after working so hard to get it to work, but I think theres still saving it. Heres the error:
FAT: Bogus logical sector size 0
UMSDOS: msdos_super_read failed Mount aborted
FAT: Bogus logical sector size 0
FAT: Bogus logical sector size 0
Reiserfs: found format "3.6" with standard journal
Filesystem on 03:05 cannot be mounted because it is bigger than the device. You may need to run fsck or increase the size of your LVM partition or maybe you forgot to reboot after fdisk when it told you to.
-then a kernal panic
That partitioning goes like this:
windows | Slackware | Swap| Spare Reiserfs | Spare Reiserfs |
Now normally I use diskdrake on the first mandrake boot disk, but partition magic was the only thing that would allow me to widen windows. I ended up further back than I had started. So here are my two questions:
(a) How do I fix slackware and get it to boot again?
(b) My windows partition went from 2 gigs to 6, but C: still only reads as having two gigs of the extended fat 32 partition. How do I make windows claim the extra space?
-Thanks!
