Parallel Cluster

Hi All,

I've been playing around with parallel clustering using ParallelKnoppix. It's awesome! But, I really don't like Knoppix as an every day OS. I know I can install vmware and run my Ubuntu from it, and I'm sure the vmware will be clustered as well... but, does anyone know of a way to setup Ubuntu for parallel clustering?

I really don't understand much about parallel clustering other than it allows multiple computers to act as a multi-core processor.

I just have a lot of PII and PIII computers that I would like to throw in a room and just play around with, there's really no point for doing this project yet, other than just for fun.

Thanks for any help!

You might be interested in the Open Mosix project.

Thanks for the quick reply stress_junkie. I think I've heard of Open Mosix before. I'll look into a tutorial on using Ubuntu with Open Mosix, but could you or someone else explain the difference between an HPC cluster vs fail-over vs other cluster types. Does Open Mosix support a parallel cluster configuration? I guess I don't have the basic knowlege to get me started with clusters yet.
