But just out of curiosoty, is there any way to get the dynamically linked version of Opera to work with slackware? Why doesn't it work (that is, what is it trying to link to?). What is ti7QWidget anyway?
because using the dynamic package depends on your version of qt. if you don't have the right qt version, installing the dynamic package will not work when trying to run opera. it's always safer to install the static packages that way all the libraries are already compiled and ready to go for you when you want to run opera.
edit: to answer your other question, a widget is just a UI object, like push buttons, combo boxes, radio buttons, etc. qt is one type of library that provides these. another library would be gtk. kde uses the qt libraries for creating those UI objects.
