Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libcurl4-openssl-dev: Depends: libssl-dev but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
what happened to it how can I solve it and what does it mean?

You need libssl-dev, the lack of this package is why OpenVPN won't configure.

Stop trying to install all the openssl packages and just try installing libssl-dev. What happens then?

I dont think so that the problem is libssl-dev as you can see:
Quote:
apt-get install libssl-dev*
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Note, selecting libssl-dev for regex 'libssl-dev*'
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libssl-dev: Depends: libssl0.9.8 (= 0.9.8g-15+lenny6) but 0.9.8m-2 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

or

Quote:
apt-get install libssl-dev
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done

thanks for your reply but I think the problem is something else.
