Rep: Reputation: 0 on SuSE 8.2 ?

I'm using SuSE-Linux 8.2 with OpenOffice 1.0.2-30.
I would like to update it to OpenOffice 1.1-64, but I can only find rpms for the new SuSE-Distribution 9.0.
Does anybody know if I can install the new OO-Version anyway?
Or do I have to buy the new distri?

why dont you compile it from source? *warning* it will take a while to compile, but the resulting application will run a bit faster, i dont know if thats actually noticeable in ooffice but it beats not having the new version or waiting till somoene comes up with an rpm for you if you dont know how to install ooffice there is a nice howto posted as a stick in one of these forums (linux-general software or newbie i dont remember which)

forgot to say you could always try it, if you have enough bandwidth and dont mind the download you probably will need to force it but thats no big deal as long as gcc isnt too different between 8.2 and 9.0 you should be fine
