I've compiled and installed giFT/giFTcurs and it works brilliantly. However, I've come across an opennap plugin for it. It's available from cvs only (cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.gift-opennap.berlios.de:/cvsroot/gift-opennap co giFT-OpenNap, if anyone's interested) but I can't get it to compile. The website (http://gift-opennap.berlios.de/) says to run ./autogen.sh but I always get an error.
Output from running ./autogen.sh:
Running aclocal...
Running autoheader...
Running autoconf...
Running libtoolize --automake...
Running automake...
src/Makefile.am:22: variable `GIFT_OPENNAP_LIBS' not defined
I don't know what to do about the last line there. I've tried specifying the variable GIFT_OPENNAP_LIBS both by the export command and by including it thus:
Edit src/Makefile.am
on line 22 there is
libOpenNap_la_LIBADD =
whatever there is after the =, replace it by -lgift:
libOpenNap_la_LIBADD = -lgift
then it should compile clean.
Copy $(PREFIX)/share/giFT/OpenNap/OpenNap.conf.template to ~/.giFT/OpenNap/OpenNap.conf - otherwise the module will not start proberly!! (PREFIX is /usr or /usr/local)
The module works perfectly for me!
PS: In debian use "dh_make" to make debianized packages out of giFT and its modules!
Wow wasn't expecting a reply anymore. Thanks but I'd already found a solution. To tell you the truth I don't use the plugin anymore. I found it a pain in the arse. The meta data handling in the protocol is pathetic. Not to mention when I was using it it had a small tendency to crash gift.
The "base" ones? They're the only ones. I use them all except OpenNap. I actually gave OpenNap a whirl again after this message only to be reminded of why I dropped it before. So, it'll be gone by the end of today. Just out of interest, have you ever managed to download anything over the OpenNap protocol? Every time I've tried it it just sits there at zero.
Jep!
You just have to enter some IPs into the nodelist, then it works perfectly (use napigator)... It is a little bit trashy, but working... I currently download some soundtracks via it.
I hope the gift-donkey guys don't stop their developement, otherwise I'll have to start porting te MLNET eDonkey/Overnet module to gift ;-)
Yeah still works like crap. By crap I mean that when I search for movies, it returns with music. Also, if I'm running concurrent searches I get results of one search mixed in with all the others.
I've never heard of the gift-donkey project. Do they have a website?
Well it's really good to know it's in the pipeline. I wish them all the best. If they manage it then I'll give mldonkey the flick. I only ever use it if I can't find what I'm looking for in gift. It's such a bloated app. Downloads are slow too.
Jep, OCAML is a great language, but it's damn slow and mem-hungry in an app like MLDonkey... And these timing-problems in mldonkey are bad too, i hope they'll manage it! ;-)
Distribution: Mandrake, Debian, Red Hat, Mitel( e-smith ), FreeBSD, etc

What plugins from where do you use?
I currently just use the "base" ones - Gnutella, OpenFT, FastTrack and OpenNap
would you mind sending me the nodelist from your installation of OpenNap? I've been trying to get it running on my system for a while and a google search didn't turn anything useful yet.
