open urls from irssi

I have been messing with this for awhile and can't seem to get it going. I have found several perl scripts that will supposedly open urls into mozilla from irssi but can't seem to get any of them to work. I have looked into trying to get xterm or rxvt to have the capability but haven't had any luck with that either. Does anyone have any advice on getting this to work? I am running irssi v. 0.8.9 and perl v5.8.2 on slackware 9.1.

thanks
