odbc not connecting to Mysql

My current setup is odbc is connecting to mysql 4.0 I need to upgrade mysql to 5 since 4 is already phase out. However, odbc can't connect to mysql 5. I already configured mysql 5 to have a 16 hash password since mysql 4 uses 16 hash password but still it can't connect. I see on the logs that odbc already connected to mysql 5 but suddenly it says "Create Connection to Database failed". I already installed mysql-odbc-connector but I don't know if there's still a need to configure it.

Any idea guys why odbc can't connect to mysql 5?
