not seeing samba shares across router
Situation:
Main site, where servers are located, includes Windows 2000 SBS running echange, dns, AD.
Linux RH7.2 DB server running samba 2.2.7-1 for shares.
also there is a Win 2000 running TS only
about 15 local workstations
Branch Site is connected via t1, cisco 1721. has 8 workstations.
They all, main and branch, TS fine, see normal AD shares, like printes and files fine.
Problem
Main site can see samba shares fine, branch cannot see shares.
other locations with similar setup has no problem, ie, shares from RH7.2 over router to seperate net
Steps taken:
we added the smaba machine to AD, and published the share through AD, still nothing. local it works, branch it doesnt, get error something like network path not found.
checked dns, successfully pings and telnets to linux server form branch using host name.
1721 router is managed by third party, no direct access, the say nothing is blocked
my ideas,
does samba use a netbios type thingy that might be getting blocked by the router? or might need forwarded
How about setting up dns on linux server and having AD DNS forward to it?
