Not able to type anything in minicom main screen.

Hello,

I downloaded and installed minicom (version: 2.00) in order to communicate with my modem but I can't even type anything in minicom's main screen.

I start the program by typing in command prompt "minicom".

The program starts normally and I see the following:

"Welcome to minicom 2.00.0

OPTIONS: History Buffer, F-Key Macros, Search History Buffer, I18n Compiled on Nov 19 2005, 18:22:39.

Press CTRL-A Z for help on special keys"

After all the above I try typing AT (or anything else) but nothing happens.

How could I fix that?

Hi,

I haven't used minicom but I have used kermit and cu so I will take a guess.

You might have to turn on local echo on your modem. If your modem is external there is probably a dip switch for this. Otherwise you are going to have to figure out the AT command for your modem that turns on local echo and type it blind first.
