None of My


none of my Multimedia work for CD Audio on Suse 9.3 Professional. Anybody have a clue?

Already Unmuted

Already unmuted everything, everything is maxed out on all the inputs, to know avail. Must be I am missing something. can you enlighten me better.

what driver are you using? alsa or oss? figure out which one ur using then check ur music apps that are using the correct driver alsa or oss

also check that ur speakers are connected properly <--- I know I know very noob but hey sometimes we forget to check the very basic

how do I find out whether I am using Alsa or oss?

I think SuSe uses alsa, check your sound mixer, are u using kde or gnome? in kde it is kmix, under gnome its volume control. Doesn't Suse have a control panel? I think so, it tells you ur hardware info check for ur sound card and it will tell u the module it is using.

if you can run alsamixer from a terminal then you have alsa driver

In KMix, ensure that under the tab "Input", the cd light must be illuminated and turned up (if you have one, the appearance of the KMix settings are different for every sound card). Also whatever application you are trying to play cd's from, ensure under the settings preferences that you select alsa as the output device. Should be the default but worth a check anyway. Post back the results.
