Outstanding. A post from "the other Horsham" (the original is up the road about 20 miles on the top edge of West Sussex - it's where we have our LUG meetings).
anyway, I don't recall having the mkfontdir either under mandrake 8.2 or 9.0 (it seems to be included in 9.1 that I now use).
I seem to remember that it "appeared" when I was messing about installing the M$ core fonts (again under 8.2 and 9.0).
So you could try looking/surfing the "corefonts" site and try the "cabextract" facility??
apart from that, I wouldn't know where to look - Slackware and all that command line config stuff is way way over my head!!!
Yes, Horsham in West Sussex is probably as dull as Horsham, PA
I understand that it has quite a "young demographic", it's quite near London Gatwick, the airport to the south of London (it's more of a "london overspill" place). Which is probably it's main "claim to fame".
hi i just had tha same problem trying to install nethack.
mkfontdir lives is /usr/X11R6/bin and wasn't in root path search.
i just added that directory to the PATH environtment variable
hope it helps
