No idea how to install Flash Player update.

I'm trying to install the most recent update for Adobe Flash Player. The problem is that I have no idea what I'm doing with Linux. Linux was put on my laptop by a family friend whom I do not have access to anymore, and I can't understand any guides I've found online for installing this. I've tried my best, but I just don't seem to have enough understanding of the way Linux works to do this. Is there anyone who could walk me through the process of installing the Flash Player update step by step? I would really appreciate it.

Hi,

welcome to LQ. To help you we are going to need a little bit more information. Specifically what version of Linux you are running. Linux is available in many different "distributions", and maintaining and installing software is subtly different on these different distributions.

Next to your post there is a little icon which seems to indicate that you are running a version of PCLinuxOS [1,2] (the forum gets this information from your web broswers "user agent string"). Can you confirm that you are running PCLinuxOS and also what version?

Cheers,

Evo2.

Yes, I am using PCLinuxOS. However, I don't know how to check the version of that or the Linux distribution I'm using. I'm really not very good with computers, so sorry if this ends up being tedious.

craigevil provided some links that might provide the information you need. Please try to read them. If you can't find what you need please post back here.

Regarding which version of pclinuxos, you should be able to find this out by opening a "terminal" - you should be able to find this somewhere in the application (?) menu - and entering the following command in the terminal:
Code:
lsb_release --all
Evo2.

PS. You'll probably find that not many people here at LQ actually use PCLinuxOS so you may have trouble getting detailed/specific help.
